Conditional Rules
Marketing on autopilot. One rule is one sentence: when something happens, if these things are true, then do this.
In plain words
Think of a light with a motion sensor. The event is someone walking past. The condition is "only after dark". The action is the light coming on.
Here the sentence reads: when a customer leaves a full basket behind, and the basket is worth over 50, send them a 10% coupon. You write it once; it runs every time on its own.
Where to find it
In the dashboard menu, open Marketing → Conditional rules. The page has its own help dialog with a plain-language explanation too.
The three parts
1. The event — when it fires
- Abandoned cart — a customer filled a basket and never paid.
- Customer inactive — someone who used to buy has gone quiet.
2. The conditions — when it should not fire
- Days with no order (for example: no order in the last 60 days).
- Order or basket value above an amount.
- The basket contains a particular product.
- The customer's country — only countries your store sells to are listed.
Conditions are an and list: every one has to be true before the action runs.
3. The actions — what happens
- Send a coupon — pick one of your existing coupons.
- Recommend products — nudge them towards specific items.
- Award points — give loyalty points.
- Multiply points — a double-points weekend, for example.
A rule can carry more than one action, and you choose how the customer is reached — in the bot, or by email.
Build your first rule
- Click Add rule.
- Pick the event.
- Add conditions. Start with one — a rule with ten conditions usually never fires at all.
- Add the action, and the channel it goes out on.
- Set a priority number. Lower numbers run first when several rules match the same customer.
- Save, then enable it when you are happy.
Abandoned-cart rules are checked against how long you keep abandoned carts — that setting lives on the Orders page. A rule that waits longer than the cart survives will never see one.
Managing rules
- Every rule shows its event, conditions, actions, priority and status.
- The buttons on a row edit it, enable or disable it, or delete it for good.
- Disabling is the safe way to pause an automation — nothing is lost, it simply stops.
These rules message real customers. Enable one rule, watch it for a few days, then add the next. Three overlapping rules can send the same person three messages in an hour.
