Product Attributes
An attribute is a question about a product. A term is one possible answer. "Colour" is the question; "Red" and "Blue" are the answers.
In plain words
Think of a t-shirt. It is one product, but you do not sell "a t-shirt" — you sell a red small one, a red large one, a blue large one.
Colour and Size are the attributes. Red, Blue, S, M, L are the terms. Once both exist, Trapyfy can build each real combination — those are called variations, and each one gets its own price and its own stock.
Where to find it
In the dashboard menu, open Inventory → Product attributes.
Step 1 — create the attribute
- Click Add attribute.
- Give it a name, such as Colour, Size, Brand or Flavour.
- A slug is filled in for you. A slug is just the computer-friendly spelling of the name (
colour). Leave it alone unless you have a reason. - Save.
Step 2 — add its terms
An attribute with no terms is an empty question. Click the attribute's name, or use the three-dot menu on its row and choose Manage terms, then add one term per answer: Red, Blue, Black. The table shows how many terms each attribute has, so a zero there is your warning sign.
Keep terms short and reuse them. One "Red" used by forty products is tidy; "Red", "red" and "Dark Red" for the same colour is a mess you will have to clean up later.
Step 3 — use them on a product
- Open a product and set its type to Variable. Simple products have one price and no options; variable products are the ones with choices.
- Go to the Attributes tab and pick the attributes and terms this product offers.
- Go to the Variations tab. Each combination (Red + S, Red + M, Blue + S…) becomes a variation with its own price per country and its own stock per warehouse.

Many at once
Import takes an .xlsx file and creates many attributes in one go. Export hands you the current list as a spreadsheet, with whatever search or filter you have applied already taken into account.
Good to know
- Search works on both the name and the slug.
- Tick several rows to delete them together.
- Attributes are also used as filters on the Stock management screen, so good attributes make stock work easier too.
Deleting an attribute or a term that products already use breaks those variations. Change the products first, delete second.
