POS App for WindowsBeta
The POS App for Windows is still in beta
We're still testing it, and we can't guarantee yet that every feature works correctly on every computer, tablet and printer. Before relying on it at your counter, try it with your own printer and a few test sales, and keep a way to print receipts by hand. If something doesn't work as described, contact Trapyfy support.
Run your Trapyfy POS on a Windows computer in its own window, and print every sale's receipt on your receipt printer automatically, with no print pop-ups and nothing to set up in a browser.
In plain words
This is the Windows version of the till for a real counter: a proper screen, a keyboard, and a cash desk. Still in beta, so expect rough edges and tell us about them.
Download
Windows 10 or 11 · about 110 MB.
Always the latest version. Once installed, the app keeps itself up to date.
Only download the app from this page. It's the same POS you use in the dashboard (POS in the sidebar), with automatic receipt printing added. On an Android tablet, use the Kiosk App for Android instead. Other ways to print, without installing anything: POS Receipt Printing.
What the app does
Prints receipts by itself
As soon as a sale is completed, its receipt prints on your receipt printer. No print window, no clicks.
Opens straight into the POS
It starts with Windows and stays signed in, so the till is ready when you switch it on.
Never loses a receipt
If the printer is off or out of reach, the receipt is saved and prints when the printer is back.
Updates itself
New versions download in the background and install the next time the app or the computer restarts.
What you need
- A Windows 10 or 11 computer for the till. A Mac version isn't available yet.
- A receipt printer for 80 mm (or 58 mm) paper, either:
- installed in Windows (USB or network): plug it in and install the driver that comes with it or from the maker's website, or
- on your network with an IP address. No driver needed, or
- Bluetooth, paired in Windows.
- Internet for the computer.
- A Trapyfy account with POS access, and a store with a register set up. See POS & Kiosk.
Install the app
Download it
On the till computer, click Download Trapyfy POS for Windows above.
If your browser says the file isn't commonly downloaded, choose Keep (in Edge: the … menu → Keep → Show more → Keep anyway).
Open it
Open the downloaded Trapyfy-POS-Setup file.
Windows may show a blue Windows protected your PC screen. Click More info, then Run anyway. You only see this once.
That's it
The app installs by itself, with no questions or admin password, and opens. You'll find Trapyfy POS on the desktop and in the Start menu.
Choose your receipt printer
The first time the app opens, it asks which printer prints your receipts.
Pick the printer
The list shows the printers installed in Windows. Your receipt printer is usually already selected and marked Suggested.
For a network receipt printer that isn't installed in Windows, choose A receipt printer on the network, by IP address, type its IP address (port 9100) and click Check connection. Many receipt printers print their IP address when you hold the feed button while switching them on.
For a Bluetooth printer: first pair it in Windows (Settings → Bluetooth & devices → Add device → Bluetooth; its PIN is often 0000 or 1234). Then choose A Bluetooth printer (COM port) and pick its port, marked (Bluetooth). Windows gives a Bluetooth printer two ports and only one of them prints: if the test receipt doesn't come out, choose the other one.
Choose the paper width
80 mm for most receipt printers, 58 mm for small ones.
Print a test receipt
Click Print test receipt. A short receipt saying If you can read this, printing works. should come out of the receipt printer.
Save
Click Save. You can change this any time in the app's Printer menu → Printer settings….
Sign in and sell
Sign in
Sign in with your Trapyfy email and password. The app opens the POS straight away.
Pick the store and register
The first time, choose the store and register at the top of the POS, as in the dashboard.
Sell
When you complete a sale, its receipt prints by itself and the Receipt options window says Receipt sent to the printer.
Need another copy? Click Print again. You can still email the receipt from the same window.
When the printer has a problem
If a receipt can't print (printer switched off, out of paper, unplugged, or off the network), the POS says the receipt was saved. Nothing is lost:
- The latest sale's receipt prints by itself once the printer is back, as long as no newer sale has come in and it's within 10 minutes. That customer is probably still waiting for it.
- Older saved receipts wait for you. They never print on their own, so the next customer doesn't get receipts for sales that aren't theirs.
- See and print them in the Printer menu → Printer settings… → Receipts waiting for the printer: Print, Print all or Discard.
- Saved receipts are deleted after 24 hours.
Everyday use
| To… | Do this |
|---|---|
| Get back to the POS | POS menu → Go to the POS (Ctrl+Shift+H) |
| Reload the page | POS menu → Reload (F5) |
| Change the printer | Printer menu → Printer settings… (Ctrl+,) |

| Make text bigger or smaller | View menu → zoom, or Ctrl + / Ctrl − |

Links to other websites open in your normal browser. If the internet drops, the app shows Can't reach Trapyfy and reconnects by itself every 10 seconds.
Troubleshooting
Nothing prints after a sale
Check the printer is switched on, has paper and is connected. Then use Printer → Print test receipt.
If the test receipt prints but sales don't, click the printer icon at the top of the POS and check Print automatically after each sale is on.
The Bluetooth printer doesn't print
Check it's on, close to the computer, paired in Windows, and not connected to another phone or tablet (only one device at a time).
In Printer settings, try the other Bluetooth COM port: Windows makes two and only the “outgoing” one prints. Windows shows which is which in Settings → Bluetooth & devices → More Bluetooth settings → COM Ports.
If the maker offers a Windows driver for the printer, installing it is another option: the printer then appears in the list like any other printer.
It prints on the wrong printer
Printer → Printer settings…, choose the receipt printer, Print test receipt, then Save.
The receipt is cut off, too small, or has lots of blank paper
Check Paper width in Printer settings matches your paper (80 or 58 mm).
For a printer installed in Windows, also check its paper size in Windows: Settings → Printers & scanners → your printer → Printing preferences, choose the receipt roll size (for example 80 × 297 mm or “Roll paper”).
“Check connection” can't find my network printer
Check the IP address (print it from the printer again), that the printer is switched on, and that it's on the same network as the computer. The port is almost always 9100.
I got signed out
Signing in to Trapyfy somewhere else with the same account signs you out of the app. Give each till its own Trapyfy staff account.
Windows says “Windows protected your PC”
Click More info, then Run anyway. See Install the app.
How do I uninstall it?
Windows Settings → Apps → Installed apps → Trapyfy POS → Uninstall.
