Gift Cards

Somebody buys credit now, somebody else spends it later.

In plain words

There are two different things on this page, and mixing them up is the only way to get confused:

  • A gift card product is the template — the "25 gift card" you put on sale. You make a few of these, once.
  • An issued gift card is a real code in someone's hands. These appear every time one is bought or given out.

Where to find it

In the dashboard menu, open Marketing → Gift cards. Two tabs at the top switch between Gift card products and Issued gift cards.

Codes you issued

Create a gift card product

  1. On the Gift card products tab, click add.
  2. Name — what the customer sees, e.g. "25 gift card".
  3. SKU — your own reference code.
  4. Price — what the buyer pays.
  5. Cost — what it costs you, for your profit reports.
  6. Points value — loyalty points it carries, if you use points.
  7. Images — the picture shown in the bot.
  8. Default expiry — how long an issued code stays usable.
  9. Save.

Watching the issued codes

On the Issued tab, filter the codes by status to see where they stand:

StatusMeaning
ActiveSold or given out, not spent yet. This is money you owe in goods.
RedeemedSpent. Nothing left on it.
CancelledYou switched it off — a lost card, a fraud case, a mistake.
ExpiredIts expiry date passed before anyone used it.

You can cancel any active card straight from its row. Search the products list by name or SKU, and sort or page both lists as usual.

Cancelling a card someone paid for will produce a support ticket. Only do it for a lost or stolen code, and write to the customer first.
